We admire it in others and strive for it in ourselves (see: every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/article\/23641-space-jam-nike-jordan-nostalgia-bugs-bunny\">Nike ad<\/a> ever made), and now we are getting closer to potentially inducing that motivational feeling with drugs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/psych.uconn.edu\/faculty\/john-salamone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Salamone, Ph.D.<\/a>, a professor at the University of Connecticut with a background in neural and behavioral pharmacology, has been working with the drug company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronostherapeutics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chronos Therapeutics<\/a> to develop a drug that can restore motivation in people who have lost it \u2014 whether that\u2019s due to the symptoms of depression, struggle with disease, or otherwise. He unveiled his early results on rats this week in a presentation at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfn.org\/Meetings\/Neuroscience-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Society For Neuroscience\u2019s<\/a> conference in San Diego, where he tells <em>Inverse<\/em> his board was bustling with activity:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically we stood there for four hours and were busy the entire time,\u201d says Salamone. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, he adds. \u201cWe didn\u2019t have anyone say \u2018This is crazy!
