Maezawa plans to fly on the trip as early as 2023, and he wants to take artists with him to turn the entire ride into an art project called #dearMoon. <a href=\"https:\/\/dearmoon.earth\/\">A website for the mission<\/a> went live after the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinally, I can tell you that I choose to go to the Moon! I choose to go to the moon with artists!\u201d Maezawa said to announce his trip at a SpaceX event.<\/p>\n<p>Maezawa, who is 42, reportedly has a current net worth of $2.9 billion, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/yusaku-maezawa\/#76371f356d0e\">according to <em>Forbes<\/em><\/a>. He is also an avid art collector, and he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/michelatindera\/2017\/05\/19\/meet-the-japanese-e-commerce-billionaire-who-just-spent-110-5-million-on-a-basquiat-painting\/1\">spent $110.5 million on a 1982 painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat<\/a> called <em>Untitled<\/em> last year. As an artist, he wants to invite other artists to come along with him on his ride.
