Its work opens the possibility of comprehending biological processes, and specifically biochemistry, through a new scientific lens.<\/p>\n<p>The exploration considers signaling <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/game+theory\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">game theory<\/a>, which involves sender and receiver interactions with both seeking payoffs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe view of <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/genes\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">genes<\/a> as players in a signaling game effectively animates genes and bestows simple utilities and strategies\u2014thus, unique personalities\u2014on them,\u201d explains Bhubaneswar \u201cBud\u201d Mishra, a professor at NYU\u2019s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, who co-authored the analysis with Steven Massey, an associate professor at the University of Puerto Rico. \u201cIn this view, the genome possesses characteristics of a molecular society, complete with deception, imitation, cooperation, and competition\u2014not unlike human society.
