If renewables could soon be cheaper than all the alternative energy sources, and that this \u201cis great news for the planet, and probably also for the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The analysis, published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/4079d82a-9e1f-11e8-b196-da9d6c239ca8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Financial Times<\/em><\/a>, explains that solar and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/article\/37245-floating-wind-farms-solve-humanity-energy-needs\">wind farms<\/a> are getting bigger, and that the potential of this sort of cheap, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/article\/46873-germany-2030-green-energy-plans\">green energy<\/a> is far-reaching and will only get cheaper. \u201cIn 2010, using solar power to boil your kettle would have cost you about \u00a30.03,\u201d the analyst writes in <em>FT<\/em>. \u201cBy 2020, according to estimates by our research team at UBS, the cost will have fallen to half a penny.\u201d And just ten years later, the costs will be so minuscule, it will practically be free.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>See also: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/article\/35227-corporations-go-green-to-make-money\">7 Massive Corporations Going Green to Boost Their Bottom Lines<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/article\/48017-by-2030-renewable-energy-costs-will-be-effectively-zero-says-ubs-researcher\">https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/article\/48017-by-2030-renewable-ener...researcher<\/a> --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A research analyst at Swiss investment bank UBS believes the cost of energy renewables could be so near to zero by 2030 \u201cit will effectively be free,\u201d according to a projections published on Monday.
