{"id":81279,"date":"2018-08-04T05:02:54","date_gmt":"2018-08-04T12:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/darpa-picks-research-teams-for-post-moores-law-work"},"modified":"2018-08-04T10:00:11","modified_gmt":"2018-08-04T17:00:11","slug":"darpa-picks-research-teams-for-post-moores-law-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/darpa-picks-research-teams-for-post-moores-law-work","title":{"rendered":"DARPA Picks Research Teams for Post-Moore\u2019s Law Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding-right: 20px\"><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/darpa-picks-research-teams-for-post-moores-law-work2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has selected the teams for two research programs that the agency hopes will provide technologies to transcend the limits of Moore\u2019s Law.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none;\" alt=\"\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/darpa-picks-research-teams-for-post-moores-law-work2.jpg\" width=\"400\" \/>As part of DARPA\u2019s $1.5 billion Electronics Resurgence Initiative (ERI) to \u201cjumpstart innovation in the electronics industry,\u201d the Three Dimensional Monolithic System-on-a-Chip (3DSoC) program and the Foundations Required for Novel Compute (FRANC) program are focused on developing chip-level innovations that lead to more powerful and efficient computing systems. We <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top500.org\/news\/darpa-looks-for-life-beyond-moores-law\/\">reported on both programs<\/a> last September, just after they were announced.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, during DARPA\u2019s first ERI Summit in San Francisco, the agency revealed the research teams selected to drive each of these efforts. For the 3DSoC program, groups from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Skywater Technology Foundry were tapped.
