Traveling to new places served as a reminder of the deeply curious human nature that continues to inspire space exploration.<\/p>\n<p>The ship is named after the prominent constellation and NASA\u2019s Orion spacecraft \u2014 the first crewed capsule designed to carry astronauts beyond low Earth orbit. The name also honors retired NASA astronaut Anna Fisher, who was recognized as the ship\u2019s \u201cgodmother\u201d during the ship\u2019s naming ceremony on June 14. The Orion spacecraft is the last project Fisher worked on before she retired in May 2017.
