{"id":78595,"date":"2018-05-11T17:02:24","date_gmt":"2018-05-12T00:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2018\/05\/who-preparing-for-worst-case-scenario-in-ebola-outbreak"},"modified":"2018-05-15T13:11:58","modified_gmt":"2018-05-15T20:11:58","slug":"who-preparing-for-worst-case-scenario-in-ebola-outbreak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2018\/05\/who-preparing-for-worst-case-scenario-in-ebola-outbreak","title":{"rendered":"WHO preparing for \u2018worst-case scenario\u2019 in Ebola outbreak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/who-preparing-for-worst-case-scenario-in-ebola-outbreak.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The World Health Organization is preparing for the \u201cworst-case scenario\u201d as it continues to respond to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Salama, deputy director-general of emergency preparedness and response at the WHO, said in Geneva, Switzerland, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmultimedia.org\/tv\/unifeed\/asset\/2149\/2149321\/\" target=\"_blank\">on Friday<\/a> that it\u2019s \u201cgoing to be tough and it\u2019s going to be costly to stamp out this outbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There have been 34 cases of Ebola virus disease reported during the past five weeks, the WHO said Friday. Of those, two have been confirmed using laboratory tests, 14 are suspected, and 18 \u2014 who are deceased \u2014 are considered probable for the disease.
