While many of us have a nebulous familiarity with the universe, a very clever animation by the Royal Observatory Greenwich<\/a> explains the height and purposes of the different layers<\/a> of the Earth\u2019s atmosphere before it is officially considered to be \u201cspace\u201d. These layers include the troposphere<\/a>, stratosphere<\/a>, mesosphere<\/a>, and the K\u00e1rm\u00e1n Line<\/a>. The thermosphere<\/a>, which continues on and on eventually becomes the exosphere<\/a> and then on to space as we know it.<\/p>\n
