Research also shows that animals given a calorie-restricted diet are also generally more able to regenerate tissue damage following injury.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Caloric restriction improves tissue regeneration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cell.com\/stem-cell-reports\/abstract\/S2213-6711(18)30052-3\">study<\/a> by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vet.upenn.edu\/research\/research-laboratories\/research-laboratory\/lengner-laboratory\">Lengner lab<\/a> at the University of Pennsylvania has identified the actual cells responsible for this increased regenerative capacity in intestinal tissue[1].
