The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/event\/Outer-Space-Treaty\"><em>Outer Space Treaty of 1967<\/em>,<\/a> formally known as the <em>Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, Including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies,<\/em> has served as the main standard for sharing space. As per the 1967 treaty, no single country can claim \u201cnational appropriation\u201d of celestial bodies \u201cby occupation or by other means\u201d.
