But now comes word of an antidote. On Monday, a group of computer scientists from Carnegie Mellon University\u2019s Software Engineering Institute published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siue.edu\/~sumbaug\/RetinalProjectPapers\/Spatio-temporal%20characterization%20of%20vessel%20segments%20applied%20to%20retinal%20angiographic%20images.pdf\">new research<\/a> showing how algorithms can tell whether the person on-screen has a human heartbeat.
