It seems like scientists at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/japanese-scientists-are-about-to-test-out-plans-for-a-real-life-space-elevator\">Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency<\/a> (JAXA) pretty much designed the complete opposite of that, and we want one for our very own.<\/p>\n<p>Called Int-Ball, this adorable little camera drone resembles something Pixar might have come up with, but it\u2019s totally real, and is now a floating companion to astronauts on board the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/nasa-astronauts-just-lost-a-key-piece-of-the-international-space-station\">International Space Station<\/a> (ISS) \u2013 where it helps out by taking photos and recording video, freeing up valuable astronaut time.<\/p>\n<p>Int-Ball was delivered to the ISS in a SpaceX cargo shipment last month \u2013 the company\u2019s first involving a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/spacex-successfully-launches-mission-number-11-reusing-an-old-dragon\">reused Dragon cargo capsule<\/a> \u2013 and is now operational, currently undergoing initial testing.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/japan-s-incredibly-cute-floating-camera-bot-is-now-operational-on-the-iss\">http:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/japan-s-incredibly-cute-floating...on-the-iss<\/a> --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know that creepy black sphere used as a floating interrogation droid in Star Wars?
