That\u2019s not stopping many from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kiro7.com\/news\/local\/will-amazon-go-be-our-friend-or-foe\/475298882\" target=\"_blank\">speaking out against Amazon Go<\/a> for its potential to increase unemployment, though.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ford, however, the implementation of automation technology is inevitable because it has obvious advantages for both consumers and retailers. \u201cI don\u2019t think we can stop it,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s a part of capitalism, that there\u2019s going to be this continuous drive for more efficiency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While many have been focusing <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/un-report-robots-will-replace-two-thirds-of-all-workers-in-the-developing-world\/\" target=\"_blank\">on manufacturing<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/50000-beers-ubers-self-driving-truck-just-made-its-first-delivery\/\" target=\"_blank\">and transportation<\/a> as the industries that will be hardest hit by automation, Amazon Go is an example of how tech that exists right now could replace retail salespersons and cashiers, jobs that had the highest employment numbers in the U.S. in May 2015 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bls.gov\/opub\/ted\/2016\/retail-salespersons-and-cashiers-were-occupations-with-highest-employment-in-may-2015.htm\" target=\"_blank\">according to the Bureau of Labor statistics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/i-dont-think-we-can-stop-it-the-future-of-automation-and-job-loss\/\">https:\/\/futurism.com\/i-dont-think-we-can-stop-it-the-future-...-job-loss\/<\/a> --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Technology can be a catalyst for the creation or destruction of jobs, but historically, it has always ultimately created more opportunities for employment, not less.
