When it develops to the point wherein it is able to learn, think, and even \u201cfeel\u201d without the input of a human \u2013 a truly \u201csmart\u201d AI \u2013 then everything we know will change, almost overnight.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s so interesting to keep track of major milestones in the development of AIs that exist today, including that of <a href=\"https:\/\/deepmind.com\/blog\/understanding-agent-cooperation\/\">Google\u2019s DeepMind<\/a> neural network. It\u2019s already <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iflscience.com\/technology\/googles-alphago-beats-go-champion-4-1-landmark-victory-artificial-intelligence\/\">besting humanity<\/a> in the gaming world, and a new <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/deepmind-media\/papers\/multi-agent-rl-in-ssd.pdf\">in-house study<\/a> reveals that Google is decidedly unsure whether or not the AI tends to prefer cooperative behaviors over aggressive, competitive ones.<\/p>\n<p>A team of Google acolytes set up two relatively simple scenarios in which to test whether neural networks are more likely to work together or destroy each other when faced with a resource problem.
