What is interesting is that most folks still have not fully understood the magnitude of quantum and how as well as why we will see it as the fundamental ingredient to all things and will be key in our efforts around singularity.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>When it comes to studying transportation systems, stock markets and the weather, quantum mechanics is probably the last thing to come to mind. However, scientists at Australia\u2019s Griffith University and Singapore\u2019s Nanyang Technological University have just performed a \u2018proof of principle\u2019 experiment showing that when it comes to simulating such complex processes in the macroscopic world quantum mechanics can provide an unexpected advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Griffith\u2019s Professor Geoff Pryde, who led the project, says that such processes could be simulated using a \u201cquantum hard drive\u201d, much smaller than the <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/memory\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">memory<\/a> required for conventional simulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStephen Hawking once stated that the 21st century is the \u2018century of complexity\u2019, as many of today\u2019s most pressing problems, such as understanding climate change or designing transportation system, involve huge networks of interacting components,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2017-02-quantum-ram-big-small.html\">https:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2017&#45;02-quantum-ram-big-small.html<\/a> --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nice write up.
