In fact, neurons account for a measly 10 percent of the cells in a healthy human brain. And over the past 25 years Stanford brain scientist <a href=\"https:\/\/med.stanford.edu\/profiles\/ben-barres\">Ben Barres<\/a>, MD, PhD, has arguably done as much as any human on earth to advance the status of the <a href=\"http:\/\/sm.stanford.edu\/archive\/stanmed\/2009fall\/article6.html\">90 percent<\/a> of cells in the brain that <em>aren\u2019t<\/em> neurons.
