The groups are challenging the FDA\u2019s \u201cdeeming rule\u201d that requires e-cigarette makers to go through what the coalition considers to be a \u201clengthy and expensive\u201d application process for products that were not on the market before Feb. 15, 2007.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FDA has reflexively applied the precautionary principle, giving more weight to theoretical concerns about problems that might arise rather than any concrete evidence of harm,\u201d the organizations wrote in a <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.techfreedom.org\/TF_Coalition_Letter_Vaping_1.17.17.pdf\">letter<\/a> Tuesday to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). \u201cIn doing so, the agency is depriving smokers of a demonstrably safer alternative out of pure speculation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2017\/01\/17\/tech-groups-join-call-congress-ease-fdas-e-cigarette-rules\/\">https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2017\/01\/17\/tech-groups-join-call-...tte-rules\/<\/a> --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A coalition of 13 organizations, including think tanks like TechFreedom and High Tech Forum, called on Congress to pass legislation that would loosen regulations on electronic cigarette manufacturers that took effect last year.
