And<a href=\"http:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/tag\/electronic-warfare\/\"> electronic warfare<\/a>, much more quietly, dominates a great deal of thinking across the services these days after we\u2019ve watched <a href=\"http:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2016\/03\/army-electronic-warfare-investment-lags-rhetoric-russians\/\">how the Russians operate<\/a> against Ukraine and in Syria. So DARPA\u2019s additional $13.3 million award announced today is worth noting.<\/p>\n<p>Why does all this matter?<a href=\"http:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2015\/03\/threat-data-biggest-worry-for-f-35as-ioc-but-it-will-be-on-time\/\"> One of the biggest challenges facing the F-35 program,<\/a> for example, is the creation of a huge digital threat library (known as mission data files) for the airplane.
