Their collaborative 3D Printing in Space Challenges have resulted in some amazing, ingenious inventions from children as young as five years old, all aimed at improving the daily lives of astronauts now and in the future, on the International Space Station and, one day, on Mars.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\\'blog-photo\\' href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/mars-medical-challenge-asks-students-to-design-3d-printable-items-to-keep-astronauts-healthy-on-mars2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/mars-medical-challenge-asks-students-to-design-3d-printable-items-to-keep-astronauts-healthy-on-mars2.jpg\" alt=\"mars\" width=\"719\" height=\"347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/mars-medical-challenge-asks-students-to-design-3d-printable-items-to-keep-astronauts-healthy-on-mars2.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/3dprint.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/mars-300x145.png 300w, https:\/\/3dprint.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/mars-768x371.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 719px)  100vw, 719px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The winners of the last challenge, the <a href=\"https:\/\/3dprint.com\/130302\/nasa-asme-design-challenge\/\">Think Outside the Box Challenge<\/a>, were announced<a href=\"https:\/\/3dprint.com\/151871\/nasa-asme-future-engineers\/\"> a few weeks ago<\/a>, and now the three organizations have announced the fifth challenge in the series. This time, it\u2019s geared directly towards a future Mars mission.
