{"id":31068,"date":"2016-10-15T11:07:52","date_gmt":"2016-10-15T18:07:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/los-alamos-research-team-develops-new-quantum-dot-solar-procedures"},"modified":"2017-06-04T09:22:02","modified_gmt":"2017-06-04T16:22:02","slug":"los-alamos-research-team-develops-new-quantum-dot-solar-procedures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/los-alamos-research-team-develops-new-quantum-dot-solar-procedures","title":{"rendered":"Los Alamos research team develops new quantum dot solar procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding-right: 20px\"><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/los-alamos-research-team-develops-new-quantum-dot-solar-procedures.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Los Alamos is the 1st place where QC Internet was launched.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>A research team from Los Alamos National Laboratory published a paper in the journal Nature Energy this week that demonstrates an effective method for scaling up quantum dot solar power technology from production models to full-sized windows that could power a building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are developing solar concentrators that will harvest sunlight from building windows and turn it into electricity, using quantum-dot based luminescent solar concentrators,\u201d lead scientist and leader of the Los Alamos Center for Advanced Solar Photophysics (CASP) Victor Klimov said.<\/p>\n<p>The Los Alamos paper advances techniques relating to luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) \u2013 slabs of transparent glass or plastic into or onto which highly emissive fluorophores are placed in order to create large-area sunlight collectors for photovoltaic cells \u2013 examining large LSC windows that were created by using a blade to create a thin, highly uniform film on a surface.
