First seen as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/evidence-of-a-new-particle-that-could-break-the-standard-model-of-physics-is-mounting\">\u2019blip\u2019 in Large Hadron Collider data<\/a>, the hunt is now on to confirm its existence, which experts say would be \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/2078975-bigger-than-the-higgs-bigger-even-than-gravitational-waves\/\">bigger than the [discovery of the] Higgs boson<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>And physicists have just made the case that another new particle could be waiting to be discovered, by showing that the existence of a mysterious new particle, which they\u2019re calling \u2018particle X\u2019, could explain a significant conundrum in physics: where the heck all the missing lithium in the Universe went to.<\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t heard about the case of the missing cosmic lithium, don\u2019t worry, we weren\u2019t across it either.
