From <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Deep_Blue_versus_Garry_Kasparov\">humbling chess grandmaster losses<\/a> at the hands of mathematically brilliant supercomputers to <a href=\"http:\/\/conceptnet5.media.mit.edu\/\">semantic networks<\/a> with the linguistic grasp of a four-year-old, one thing seems certain: AI is coming.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what today\u2019s brightest programmers, philosophers and entrepreneurs have said about our terrifying, astonishing future.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sam Altman<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Altman, who\u2019s working on developing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openai.com\/\">an open-source version of AI<\/a> that would be available to all rather than the few, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2015\/12\/elon-musks-billion-dollar-ai-plan-is-about-far-more-than-saving-the-world\/\">believes future iterations<\/a> could be designed to self-police, working only toward benevolent ends.
