And, of course, the number of games downloaded and purchases <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/itch.io\/post\/3mz7vzjwhgs23\">have not doubled<\/a> to match this new supply.<\/p>\n<p>Itch.io is also facing issues linked to the sheer file size. The storefront has a <a href=\"https:\/\/itch.io\/docs\/creators\/quality-guidelines#avoid-uploading-excessive-amounts-of-automatically-generated-or-ai-generated-content\">terms of service policy against AI spam<\/a>, which it cited shortly after it <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/itch.io\/post\/3mzev6ghw5s2x\">publicly announced<\/a> \u201ca couple terabytes of AI slop\u201d had been deleted.<\/p>\n<p>This change comes as the industry as a whole has been clogged with an influx of AI games. Steam Next Fest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/steam-next-fest-2026-over-double\">had a record-breaking number of demo submissions last month<\/a>.
