In 2002, Sony released the Mavica MVC-CD250. Following their famous floppy disk camera lineup, Sony engineered this digital camera with an integrated 8cm optical drive capable of burning photos directly onto mini CD-R and CD-RW discs (156MB capacity). Because mini CDs cost just pennies compared to expensive early flash memory sticks, users could shoot hundreds of photos and drop the miniature disc right into a standard PC CD-ROM tray without needing cables or proprietary software. Today on DiyTech, we step into vintage digital camera history to explore Sony\u2019s optical disc marvel. Did you ever use a Sony Mavica with floppy disks or mini CDs?
