Its use goes back to at least October 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/security\/blog\/2026\/09\/28\/needymantis-unpacking-a-post-compromise-malware-family-used-in-targeted-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\">NeedyMantis<\/a> while following up on indicators from Kaspersky\u2019s investigation into the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehackernews.com\/2026\/05\/daemon-tools-supply-chain-attack.html\" target=\"_blank\">supply chain attack on DAEMON Tools<\/a>. In that attack, official, signed installers for the DAEMON Tools Lite disk image program carried malicious code from April 8, 2026.
