To investigate this, a team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, the University of Cambridge, the Francis Crick Institute and King\u2019s College London used new sequencing technologies and found distinctive DNA damage in the liver. They suggest that further research could lead to new ways to protect against this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/science.ady0339\" target=\"_blank\">Published<\/a> in <i>Science<\/i>, the researchers also discovered that while effectively destroying cancer cells, chemotherapy can \u201cage\u201d a child\u2019s healthy cells.
