A CERN study, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/scitechdaily.com\/tag\/university-of-kansas\/\">University of Kansas<\/a> physicist playing a leading role, has now shown that experiments can distinguish between two competing explanations for how these particles behave in nuclei.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted with the ALICE experiment at CERN\u2019s Large Hadron Collider and published in <em>Physical Review Letters<\/em>, the research provides the first multidimensional measurement of incoherent J\/\u03c8 (pronounced \u201c\u201d JAY-sigh\u201d) photonuclear production across both interaction energy and momentum transfer.
