How sleep enables the brain to strengthen memories is still not completely understood, but a new study published in <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.neuron.2026.07.025\">Neuron<\/a> reveals how astrocytes, brain cells known for supporting neurons and their functions, can directly regulate brain circuits involved in memory consolidation.<\/p>\n<p>The work may have implications for epilepsy, Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other disorders associated with memory problems.
