The planet orbits within the habitable zone around its parent star\u2014a red dwarf located some 48 light-years from Earth.<\/p>\n<p>The habitable zone is the region around the star where temperatures are just right for water to remain liquid at a planet\u2019s surface. Astronomers detected helium being lost from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/science.aea9708\">upper atmosphere of LHS 1140b<\/a>.
