Here\u2019s a reminder that, although a lot of things still suck, an enormous amount of progress has been made (and even more progress is coming soon!) #future #hopepunk<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Sometimes when I tell people I\u2019m optimistic about the future, they look at me like I\u2019m crazy. How could I say that when there\u2019s so much violence in the world, the international order seems to be collapsing, and AI may end up doing more harm than good?<\/p>\n<p>I see all these problems too, and I\u2019m deeply concerned about them. (I am working on a long memo about the risks and benefits of AI that I plan to publish later this month.) <\/p>\n<p>But through my work with the Gates Foundation and other organizations, I also get to see signs of progress that help me stay optimistic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We often either take the good news for granted or we aren\u2019t exposed to the good news at all.
