{"id":241557,"date":"2026-07-25T12:05:55","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T17:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2026\/07\/wireless-skin-sensor-could-continuously-track-soft-tissue-disorders-from-home"},"modified":"2026-07-25T12:05:55","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T17:05:55","slug":"wireless-skin-sensor-could-continuously-track-soft-tissue-disorders-from-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2026\/07\/wireless-skin-sensor-could-continuously-track-soft-tissue-disorders-from-home","title":{"rendered":"Wireless skin sensor could continuously track soft tissue disorders from home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/wireless-skin-sensor-could-continuously-track-soft-tissue-disorders-from-home2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Northwestern scientists have developed a novel wireless sensor device that can continuously monitor skin elasticity in patients with soft tissue disorders, including lymphedema and scleroderma, which can support early disease detection and better inform care strategies, as detailed in a study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/sciadv.aeg2631\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in Science Advances.<\/p>\n<p>The sensor, which is directly applied to the patient\u2019s skin, can measure a patient\u2019s tissue elasticity and then wirelessly transmit critical disease-progression data, enabling a health care provider to remotely access that data from the patient\u2019s home and potentially eliminating the need for an in-person clinical examination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe great thing about the sensor is it\u2019s small, the potential for home use is tremendous, and for patients who know that they are at risk and know that they need to be constantly monitoring and detecting, this could give them a really good home-based unit that could potentially communicate data directly to their physician.
