When cancer spreads, the likelihood of medication reaching it gets even lower, which is why secondary, or metastatic, tumours can be so deadly.<\/p>\n<p>But now, researchers have used cancer\u2019s own tricks against it, by developing dissolvable nanoparticles that target the heart of metastatic tumours directly. And they\u2019ve already seen unprecedented success in mouse studies, with 40\u201350 percent of the animals being \u201cfunctionally cured\u201d, and tumour-free after eight months \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/post\/At_what_age_are_laboratory_mice_considered_adult2\">the equivalent of about 24 years for a human patient<\/a>.
