This fast-growing form of brain and spinal cord cancer typically causes death within a year of diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>In the trial, several participants were still alive 2 years or more after receiving the treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Patients in the trial had a type of diffuse midline gliomas known as H3K27M mutant, a genetic change that is found <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/neuro-oncology\/article\/26\/Supplement_2\/S92\/7306459\">in about 80% of younger patients with these cancers<\/a><a class=\"\" title=\"Exit Disclaimer\" href=\"https:\/\/4g5ku1mlib.execute-api.us-east-1.amazonaws.com:443\/policies\/linking\"> Exit Disclaimer<\/a>.
