Although we still don\u2019t know where this interstellar object called 3I\/ATLAS came from, research led by the University of Michigan has revealed new insights about its birthplace. Wherever that was, it was much colder than the environment that created our solar system.<\/p>\n<p>The new finding is based on the observation that <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2025-10-physicists-ultraviolet-fingerprint-interstellar-comet.html?utm_source=embeddings&utm_medium=related&utm_campaign=internal\" rel=\"related\" target=\"_blank\">3I\/ATLAS<\/a> is remarkably rich in a specific type of water that contains deuterium.
