But there are big gaps \u2014 most noticeably, the fact that the model doesn\u2019t actually account for gravity \u2014 so scientists have spent decades probing the boundaries of physics for signs of any activity that the standard model can\u2019t explain. And now they\u2019ve found one.<\/p>\n<p>The discrepancy deals with a particle called the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/B_meson\">B meson<\/a>. According to the standard model, B mesons should decay at very specific angles and frequencies \u2014 but those predictions don\u2019t match up what\u2019s been seen in LHC experiments, suggesting that something else is going on.
