The idea is simple but powerful\u2014DNA is one of the most compact, durable information systems on Earth. But one issue has held the field back. Once data is written into DNA, it can\u2019t be changed.<\/p>\n<p>Now, researchers at the University of Missouri are helping to solve that problem by transforming DNA from a one-time medium into a <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/news\/2026-02-biology-power-gen-storage.html?utm_source=embeddings&utm_medium=related&utm_campaign=internal\" rel=\"related\">rewritable digital hard drive<\/a>.
