Their preclinical findings, published in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/neuron\/fulltext\/S0896-6273(25)00978-X\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Neuron<\/i><\/a>, show that a transcription factor called Otp acts as a molecular \u201cswitch\u201d that directs immature hypothalamic neurons toward either appetite-suppressing or appetite-stimulating fates\u2014their ultimate identities as specialized cells.
