Reporting their results in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41566-025-01825-8\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Nature Photonics<\/i><\/a>, the team, led by Ranjan Singh at the University of Notre Dame, say that with further refinements, the design could help underpin future sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks, allowing data to be shared at unprecedented speeds.<\/p>\n<p>In the not-too-distant future, <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/news\/2022-07-6g.html?utm_source=embeddings&utm_medium=related&utm_campaign=internal\" rel=\"related\" target=\"_blank\">6G networks<\/a> are expected to enable data rates of around one terabit per second\u2014the same as transferring roughly half the storage of a mid-range smartphone in a single second.
