As the participants were healthy and aged 18\u201330 when the study started in the mid-1980s, the researchers could chart cases of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/fact-sheets\/detail\/cardiovascular-diseases-(cvds)\">cardiovascular disease<\/a> (including strokes and heart failure) over time.<\/p>\n<p>According to the data, 35 is the critical age when disparities between male and female cardiovascular disease risk start to appear. Most of the difference is driven by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhlbi.nih.gov\/health\/coronary-heart-disease\">coronary heart disease<\/a> (CHD), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartfoundation.org.au\/your-heart\/heart-attack\">most common cause<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/over-50-of-heart-attacks-in-younger-women-arent-from-clogged-arteries\">heart attacks<\/a>, where fatty deposits clog up arteries, blocking blood flow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Screening at an earlier age can help identify risk factors sooner, enabling preventive strategies that reduce long-term risk.
