It\u2019s now urging other health authorities, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/what-does-the-world-health-organisation-do\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_self\">World Health Organization<\/a> (WHO), to follow suit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Type_5_diabetes\">Type 5 diabetes<\/a> is rarely discussed or researched, and yet it is thought to impact up to 25 million people worldwide, especially those in low-and middle-income nations where access to medical care is <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1007\/s40200-025-01674-w\">limited<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was first described in 1955 in Jamaica, then forgotten about for many years.
