Carvalho and Dr. Andr\u00e9 Freitas have developed new software frameworks\u2014LangVAE and LangSpace\u2014that significantly reduce both hardware and energy resource needs for controlling and testing LLMs to build explainable AI. Their paper is <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2505.00004\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> on the <i>arXiv<\/i> preprint server.<\/p>\n<p>Their technique builds <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/news\/2025-05-algorithm-based-llms-lossless-compression.html?utm_source=embeddings&utm_medium=related&utm_campaign=internal\" rel=\"related\">compressed language representations<\/a> from LLMs, making it possible to interpret and control these models using geometric methods (essentially treating the model\u2019s internal language patterns as points and shapes in space that can be measured, compared and adjusted), without altering the models themselves.
