The work, covered in two papers, turns the previously lab-based method into a full-blown immunotherapy strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Cancer immunotherapy is a strategy that turns the patient\u2019s own immune cells into a \u201csearch-and-destroy\u201d force that attacks the tumor\u2019s cells. The \u201csearch\u201d immune cells are the dendritic cells, which collect and present identifying parts of the cancer cells (antigens) to the \u201cdestroy\u201d part (T cells), the immune system\u2019s killer cells.<\/p>\n<p>The problem is that many tumors \u201clearn\u201d how to evade detection by the patient\u2019s dendritic cells.
