It is a sensitive measure of myocardial fiber shortening and has become a reliable parameter for evaluating subtle systolic dysfunction.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/10.1161\/JAHA.125.042800#core-collateral-jah311631-bib-0007\" id=\"core-jah311631-bib-0007-1\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a> In patients with acute HF, LV\u2010GLS is frequently reduced regardless of the LV ejection fraction (LVEF), the traditional measure of LV systolic function. LV\u2010GLS has also been shown to be a superior prognostic marker for death than LVEF.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/10.1161\/JAHA.125.042800#core-collateral-jah311631-bib-0008\" id=\"core-jah311631-bib-0008-1\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a> Furthermore, in severe mitral regurgitation and severe aortic stenosis, LV\u2010GLS has proven useful as a predictor of postoperative outcomes and a tool for identifying patients who may benefit from early surgical intervention.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/10.1161\/JAHA.125.042800#core-collateral-jah311631-bib-0009\" id=\"core-jah311631-bib-0009-1\"><sup>9<\/sup><\/a><sup>, <\/sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/10.1161\/JAHA.125.042800#core-collateral-jah311631-bib-0010\" id=\"core-jah311631-bib-0010-1\"><sup>10<\/sup><\/a> Recent research has demonstrated that LV\u2010GLS can effectively predict incident strokes in patients who are stroke na\u00efve.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/10.1161\/JAHA.125.042800#core-collateral-jah311631-bib-0011\" id=\"core-jah311631-bib-0011-1\"><sup>11<\/sup><\/a> However, to date, no study has evaluated the prognostic implications of LV\u2010GLS in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) about subsequent cardiovascular outcomes.
