One of the most promising explanations was the existence of a <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2024-12-particle-closer-physicists-outline-years.html?utm_source=embeddings&utm_medium=related&utm_campaign=internal\" rel=\"related\">sterile neutrino<\/a>, named because they are predicted not to interact with matter at all, whereas other neutrinos can.
