By correlating molecular features with reaction outcomes, the researchers reveal that the choice of deuterium source\u2014such as heavy water (D<sub>2<\/sub>O), deuterated methanol (CD<sub>3<\/sub>OD), or acetic acid-d<sub>4<\/sub> (AcOD-d<sub>4<\/sub>)\u2014does more than merely influencing the degree of deuterium incorporation.
