Despite all that\u2019s been learned about brain function and the bodily processes it governs, we still don\u2019t understand where the subjective experiences associated with brain functions originate.<\/p>\n<p>A new interdisciplinary project seeks to find answers to these kinds of big questions around consciousness, a fundamental yet elusive phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/shass.mit.edu\/human-insight-collaborative\/shass-connectivity-fund-projects\/\">MIT Consciousness Club<\/a> is co-led by philosopher <a href=\"https:\/\/philosophy.mit.edu\/mmichel\">Matthias Michel<\/a>, the Old Dominion Career Development Professor in the Department of <a href=\"https:\/\/linguistics.mit.edu\/\">Linguistics<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/philosophy.mit.edu\/\">Philosophy<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/picower.mit.edu\/earl-k-miller\">Earl Miller<\/a>, the Picower Professor of Neuroscience in the <a href=\"https:\/\/bcs.mit.edu\/\">Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Humans know they exist, but how does \u201cknowing\u201d work?
