The study, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/linkinghub.elsevier.com\/retrieve\/pii\/S0896627325007500\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in <i>Neuron<\/i>, shows that distinct perceptual biases\u2014long thought to arise from separate brain systems\u2014can, in fact, be explained by a single, biologically grounded mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>The research, led by professors Sebastian Goldt and Mathew E. Diamond, and first author Francesca Sch\u00f6nsberg (now a junior research chair at the \u00c9cole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure), brings together <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/theoretical+physics\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">theoretical physics<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/computational+modeling\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">computational modeling<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/behavioral+neuroscience\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">behavioral neuroscience<\/a> to bridge decades of fragmented research on perceptual <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/memory\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">memory<\/a>.
