While hormones such as progesterone and oxytocin are key contributors to that process, scientists have long suspected that physical forces\u2014in this case, the stretching and pressure that accompany pregnancy and delivery\u2014also play a role.<\/p>\n<p>Now, a new study from Scripps Research published in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/science.ady3045\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Science<\/i><\/a>, reveals how the uterus senses and responds to those forces at a molecular level.
