The model may also account for dark matter and dark energy, resolving multiple problems at once.<\/p>\n<p>The widely accepted age of the <a href=\"http:\/\/m.phys.org\/tags\/universe\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">universe<\/a>, as estimated by <a href=\"http:\/\/m.phys.org\/tags\/general+relativity\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">general relativity<\/a>, is 13.8 billion years. In the beginning, everything in existence is thought to have occupied a single infinitely dense point, or <a href=\"http:\/\/m.phys.org\/tags\/singularity\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">singularity<\/a>.
