According to Arya Dutta, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yu.edu\/katz\/mathematics-phd\">Ph.D. student in Mathematics<\/a> at the Katz School, the answer might be yes, at least on paper.<\/p>\n<p>Accepted for publication in the <em>International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2510.23689\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\">Dutta\u2019s study<\/a>, \u201cThin-shell Wormhole with a Background Kalb\u2013Ramond Field,\u201d explored a mathematical model of a wormhole\u2014a hypothetical shortcut through spacetime that could, in theory, connect two distant regions of the universe. \u201cA wormhole allows faster-than-light travel or even time travel,\u201d said Dutta. \u201cIt hasn\u2019t been observed yet, but theoretical research has advanced a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Could a tunnel through space and time\u2014long a dream of science fiction\u2014ever exist in theory?
